  What is Ayurveda ?

Our core mission is to provide comprehensive holiday experiences with best of quality services and true value for money.
Ayurveda provides both curative and preventive measures towards optimal physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The word "Ayurveda" is from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, and literally means "Knowledge of Life". Inherent in Ayurvedic principles is the concept that you are capable of taking charge of your own life and healing.

More than simply medical care, Ayurveda offers a philosophy whereby one may prevent unnecessary suffering and live a long, healthy life. Known as the mother of all medical systems, Ayurveda has undergone continuous research, development and refinement over past 5,000 years. Originally from India, Ayurveda is currently experiencing world-wide popularity as a revival sweeps in all continents. Ayurveda employs the judicious application of nutritional guidance, herbal medicines, exercise therapy, transcendental meditation and many special rejuvenation and purification therapies. Preferring to focus on the type of person who has the disease, rather than just understanding the type of disease the person has, Ayurveda is a patient-orientated system of healing.

Kerala, Where Nature's overwhelming presence represents itself in hues unknown to man. Where there is an inexhaustible wealth of the choicest natural bounties.
Ayurveda - the ancient time - tested system of Indian medicine that is practiced with the utmost dedication in Kerala.
Around 600 BC, in India a new system of medicine evolved, a system that in addition to treating an ailment, stressed on its prevention and a system that came to be called Ayurveda. This tradition of health-care was followed by the Dravidians and Aryans alike, and has been practiced ever since. Today, it's a unique, indispensable branch of medicine. In Ayurveda health is achieved by maintaining a right balance of the three humors of the body - Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

In fact, today, Kerala is the only State in India which practices this system of medicine with absolute dedication. Ayurveda offers you two kinds of holiday options, rejuvenative and therapeutic.

Ayurveda literally means "the knowledge of life". It is an ancient system of medicine that operates in tune with Nature. Ayurveda developed in India over a period of 5000 years includes both preventive and prescriptive aspects.

The benefits of Ayurveda includes getting at the root of the disease to cure it and it also aims at preventing a recurrence of the problem by helping the individual integrate this ancient system of medicine into his everyday life through yoga and meditation, also a part of this system of medicine. It is well known that unlike some systems of medicine Ayurveda has no unpleasant side effects.

Some of the experts in Ayurveda opine that this ancient system of medicine being based on the concept of Tridoshas (vata, pitha and kapha) evolved from the Panchaboothas ( 5 elements) therefore Ayurvedic treatment is person specific since each person is composed of these elements in different constituencies. This tradition of natural healing system has been a part of the culture and daily life in India. It is the most natural way to refresh yourself, eliminate all toxic imbalances from the body, regain resistance and good health. yurveda believes in the treatment of not just the affected part, but the individual as a whole. Making it the natural way to perfect health and harmony of life.

Kerala has been the cradle of Vedic wisdom through the ages. Ayurveda has always been a way of life with the people of Kerala. Ayurveda in its present form was prepared and practiced here. Kerala had a flourishing trade with all the ancient Kingdoms of the world. Kerala was the most exotic destination for explorers for a long time. They came in search of spices, oils and ancient wisdom. Wisemen came in search of Ayurveda and its philosophy, they went back enriched. The Ayurvedic Centre at Kovalam Ashok in the true Ayurvedic tradition of Kerala, shares this wisdom.

Kerala's equable climate, natural abundance of forests (with a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants), and cool monsoon season (June to September) are best suited for Ayurveda's curative and restorative programs. In fact, today Kerala is the only state in India which practices this system of medicine with absolute dedication.

Ancient texts recommended the monsoon to be the best season for Ayurvedic regimens. The atmosphere remains dust free and cool, opening the pores of the body to the maximum, making it most receptive to herbal oil and therapy.

One has to rather careful in resorting to an Ayurvedic treatment centers ( without a solid foundation or expertise) which offers you a cheaper treatment since even an ordinary massage at these centers may do more harm than good as they may not match your body's configuration with the oils or medicines chosen for the massage or treatment.
